Zoey is officially walking! it’s beenba long time coming, but it’s finally here. She could have walked a while ago if she really wanted to but she kept plopping down on that butt of hers whenever I let go of her hand, it started with a few steps a few weeks ago, and now it’s full fledged walking, and if she knows I’m close by to catch her she even runs a little bit.. I’m so proud! I’m sure people who don’t have kids, don’t think much of these little milestones, but it’s soooo amazing to watch a child go from a wiggly blob who can only cry, to lifting her head and rolling over, and crawling, and now walking, it’s just so amazing and instills such a sense of pride in me for her. Everyday that she understands something new, I am always surprised and excited, I just love this little girl, and I love watching her grow!
I am not one of the privileged many who happen to have instagram, But am privy to having my adorable baby as a subject to many, So here is a sampling of some of Kasey’s “Zoey Instagrams”!
lol the first time watching yo gabba gabba for both of them! she’s mesmerized!

I don’t understand how all of these negative people against breastfeeding, don’t seem to understand. Breastfeeding isn’t fun! It doesn’t get you off! It’s exhausting, and demanding! I also love that they are comparing feeding a child to taking a piss. I’m also willing to bet these ignorant hicks would be more willing to see a person sucking on an udder than they are to seeing a child breastfeed. I honestly can’t wrap my brain around what their problem is. They Clearly haven’t ever breastfed before if they think it’s in someway selfish on the mother’s part. The other thing that gets to me is, how the hell do they figure that breast milk automatically looses it’s nutritional value once the child can talk? what the hell does talking have to do with eating? I guess in America once you can talk you should be subjected to the S.A.D standard American diet. “Yikes, that kid is growin’ up we’d better get him eattin’ some processed corn products, or he might not be American! hell lets prop him on a tractor in the field too, so he can learn a proper work ethic!” Cuz surely breastfeeding is far more dangerous for a child than operating heavy farm equipment. The people in this country make me sick. Breastfeeding isn’t perverse until you make it that way, by teaching your children that what’s going on is wrong. Grow up America, heaven forbid we see a little “boobie” flashed around.

Zoey let me borrow this today, but she needs it back tomorrow

it makes me really, indescribably disturbed that breastfeeding has become controversial. I didn’t grow up in an environment where I was exposed to breastfeeding. I remember seeing my neighbor doing it once and I had no clue why she was sitting there with no shirt on, but I was like 5 so I just carried on with whatever I was doing. I didn’t care. I’m pretty sure other kids don’t care either. When I got pregnant I decided I was breastfeeding my baby because that is what’s best. It’s a simple fact. Formula isn’t even milk. It’s milk bi products left over after manufacturers have made cheese or yogurt or whatever else, it’s left overs, from an animal. I understand why women choose not to breastfeed, but I don’t understand why people are against it. Humans are the only mammals, that don’t exclusively breastfeed their young. They are also the only mammals that give their young the milk from another species. Maybe Humans just have issues with being “like an animal” but we need to wake up and realize that we are animals, and we are the worst kind. because instead of listening to our bodies, we listen to each other, we give in to peer pressure and feel the need to fall into social norms.
I personally didn’t breastfeed my baby for as long as I would have liked to. I had some supply issues, due only to my own self consciousness, and not wanting to offend others. My baby ended up being switched to formula, bovine bi products, because I didn’t want to offend anyone. That is a horrible thing that our society has created, and that I allowed. I have a cat who right now is in a box nursing 4 kittens. Shamelessly. she has love in her eyes and she doesn’t care who sees her. All women should be like that. all women should be able to just nurse her babies without worrying about someone not wanting to see her breast, or having to explain it to their kids, because they should already know. I’m not saying that every woman should breast feed (they should but that’s not the point) if you choose not to breastfeed, that’s fine. It’s your child not mine. However! neither you or your children, or your husband, mother, in laws, or ANYONE should ever make any other woman feel uncomfortable because she chose a better, and harder, more exhausting, natural, healthy and rewarding way to feed her child.
Now moving on to age. I personally wouldn’t breastfeed my child past 2 years. But, like I said before, your child, not mine. every woman should have the right to breastfeed her child for as long as she would give it cows milk. Full grown adults consume cows milk on a daily basis. Every morning in their cereal, or their coffee. I think that is much more “gross” than a 3 or 4 year old breast feeding. I’d rather see my children eating human breast milk; ice cream, yogurt, and cheese and drinking it straight from a boob for the rest of their lives, than have it come from a cow. But unfortunately, breastfeeding is not fun. So women don’t want to be factory farmed for milk the way we force cows to be, so those things aren’t accessible and also unfortunately breast milk works on a supply and demand basis, so if you want your child to be getting the best milk she can get, she’s gonna have to suck it out of your boobs. that’s life, that’s how God created us. So the way I look at it is, if you’re giving your 4 year old cow’s milk, then you have no right to prevent a different mother from giving her child breast milk.

Lookey what I made!
usually Zoey is NOT interested in TV at all. I sometimes long for the ability to just turn the tv on and have it hold her attention, but usually I end up watching curious George while she wanders off , and or destroys things. Well we bought her an Ariel barbie doll for the bath tub a few weeks ago and she was smitten by it. So then I went and grabbed the movie and showed her the picture on the box, and got very excited, naturally I then put the movie in and voila! she actually sat there and watched it with me, snuggles and all, I was in love!
dandelion fizz recipe
6 cups dandelion flowers
5 quarts water
4 cups sugar, honey or other sweetener
2 lemons (less lemon or none if you use honey)
- clean dandelions if necessary, and trim stems
- bring water to a boil and pour over dandelions
- cover and leave for 12 hours
- strain through a cloth and add sweetener, lemon juice and rind
- heat and stir till dissolved but do not boil
- strain into jugs or jars and leave to cool
- pour into clean, dry bottles with tight screw caps
- brew is ready to drink in 3-4 weeks!
I really wanna try this!

Zoey has pretty sensitive skin. I remember reading a lot in the beginning about people recommending cloth if your baby has sensitive skin, well that is not the case with our little Zoey. I was exclusively using prefolds, cloth wipes and thirsties covers, for a long while and if I didn’t change her religiously she got rashes, which is a bummer with cloth because you can’t use diaper cream, Hubby got sick of the cloth and bought cases of disposables for a while, so our cloth diapering was on a hiatus and that whole time, she NEVER got a rash. But now that it’s back in full swing, I’ve decided that diapers without a fleece liner are not worth the hassle, and I’m just gonna get rid of all of the ones without fleece. in a fleece lined diaper she never even feels wet, the diaper doesn’t feel wet, her bum isn’t wet, nothin’ but in a non fleece diaper, she gets a rash every time she wears one for more than an hour. Also! I find that fleece holds up a lot better too. I bought some bamboo lined really high end organic bum genius and those are falling apart on me! A ton of my prefolds are frayed and ripped, but all of the fleece ones are still going strong, even the used ones I bought.
this is one of the organic bamboo ones. And it looks better now than it did cuz I cut off the top layer of fabric because it was so far gone and full of holes it wasn’t doing any good any more. I’m pretty disappointed.
I bought some trend lab diapers and yesterday was the first day I got to use them! I am so excited about these! and I can’t wait to buy more liners. They’re so soft and fluffy! I literally would wear them. I was snuggling with them when they first came it.
so the out side looks like you’re typical one size diaper, adjustable snaps, for height and closure. but the inside!!!!!

is the softest of soft fleece ever! and they have snap in liners that are so fluffy and squishy and soft ughh I love them!

can you see the squishy awesomeness? Also they are very very absorbent. I did the first initial wash in the bath room sink I filled it up about halfway with water and diaper soap and then put 3 liners in and they absorbed ALL of the water in the sink! I was psyched! I haven’t used them over night yet, but so far so good, no leaks at all. My only negative feed back is that Zoey is skinny so the waist snaps are still on a pretty small setting and the sides kinda stick out cuz there’s nothing to secure it, but it doesn’t change the functionality of them at all and once she has pants or a onesie on it’s fine. Either way for the price and quality, they are awesome! and I love them!
